Our research group, Team Ziggy Stardust, was based upon a shared curiosity for and
appreciation of art and creative endeavors. Team Ziggy Stardust symbolizes our group’s appreciation for artistic expression, identity exploration, and playfulness exuded by such ground-breaking artists as David Bowie. Check out this blog entry for more information about our research team.
The questions that guided Team Ziggy Stardust in our research efforts were positioned broadly to encompass our diverse settings and make connections with existing resources and literature:
- What are the affordances and limitations of engaging with art?
- What tools and practices are commonly used when creating and sharing art?
Through the following three case studies, we used these questions to guide our examination of the processes, practices, and tools utilized in creating and sharing art in order to identify the affordances and limitations of arts engagement in each setting. Engaging with Art Across Multiple Settings
Action Research Reflections and Critiques
To complete our research and literature review, we needed to gather, reflect upon, and critique available research on our topic. I focused my research on arts in K12 settings, specifically looking at graffiti art education.
My findings are summarized into four action research reflections.
- Action Research Reflection 1
- Action Research Reflection 2
- Action Research Reflection 3
- Action Research Reflection 4
Individual critiques of each peer reviewed article are also available below.
